Dîner en Blanc: San Francisco
Have you heard about Dîner en Blanc? White Dinner, a public dinner where you have it with hundreds to thousands of guests dressed in all white, and with that, you become a part of the most elegant installation of the space... Yesterday, September 12th, was Dîner en Blanc: San Francisco 2014. I was of course very behind on this news and now wholeheartedly wishing I was there sharing the special event with many strangers (as weird as it sounds). I then looked up the event history and found it ultra romantic.
Born 25 years ago in Paris...
Launched with just a handful of friends by François Pasquier over 25 years ago, Paris' Dîner en Blanc now assembles nearly 15,000 people each year. The French capital's most prestigious sites have played host to it: the Pont des Arts, the Eiffel Tower site, Place Vendôme, the Château de Versailles, the Esplanade de Notre-Dame, the Esplanade des Invalides, the periphery of the Place de l'Étoile, the Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde and this year: Le Louvre Pyramid and the Trocadéro Esplanade at the same time! The Paris police tend to tolerate this ‘wild' gathering, if not perhaps even wishing they could join in!
I couldn't help but to appreciate this great mind behind the whole concept; people are brought together from every corner of the city with different background and history. Not to mention the all white theme, it's totally my POT of tea. Browsing the gallery and Google images, I am deeply thrilled by the magical and glamorous harmony. Hopefully next year I will be able to conduct this newly added bucket list of mine.
